The breed was presented to the public at a TICA show in 1991 and reached TICA championship status in 2003. Their body size is otherwise average . Munchkins are a normal-sized cat on short legs, not a “kitten-sized” cat forever. Where to get Munchkin Kittens for adoption.
Males typically weigh about 6–9 lb and females about 4–8 lb. They come in every color and pattern, in both short-hair and long-hair coats. Curious, sociable, and quick, they’re famous for sitting up like a rabbit to survey the room — and for stashing small shiny objects like tiny magpies.
